Dr. Gayle Klein, MD

Psychiatrist, Photographer, Fiction Writer, Editor

Dr. Klein, like an IRL Harley Quinn, has two seemingly disparate sides. By day, she is a trauma-focused psychiatrist managing symptoms with natural mind altering options. By night, she trains Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, develops her erotic urban fantasy novel, and publishes her own illustrated short stories for adults.

Her passion project, The Dungeon Dawls, is years in the making. Not content to develop just a novel series, Gayle has launched a publishing house to print her own comic-like entry: Dungeon Dawls, Illustrated Short Stories For Adults. The stories she writes and creates are more than just thinly veiled satires using her favorite tropes. They are a cathartic journey, a way for her to deal with the trauma she listens to on a daily basis in her practice.

As a lover of all things anime and cartoon, her publishing company is working on the third issue of the family-friendly Ducky Dog Cake series. It’s a buddy story about a cute space creature that gets stranded on earth and takes on different gigs as it tries to make its way off Planet Earth.

Dr. Klein, a Connecticut Psychiatrist with over a decade of experience spanning from the nursing home bedside to the inpatient padded cell, she’s seen it all. She completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UConn with the plan to learn more about psychiatric illnesses across the life span and use that knowledge to treat adults. She found an abundance of lifelong trauma disorders to be one of the largest factors linking mental illness across the ages. With her current focus of trauma evaluations, she has since steered her treatments to incorporate medical marijuana.

Having seen trauma through the eyes of thousands, those experiences fuel her writing and shape the subtleties of the characters she forms.
